The Medina Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council started the Obstacle Ride (Judged Pleasure Trail Ride) in
2004. After the rave reviews from participants and the success of the event, we decided to continue the journey!
Judged Trail Riding is a Judged trail ride where horses and riders are asked to travel a natural trail for a set
distance (usually 4 -10 miles) with occasional stops for the horse and rider team to negotiate an obstacle, usually
with varying difficulty, with higher scores given for completing the more difficult version with ease for each obstacle.
Unlike Competitive trail riding like our Celebration Ride, the ride is not timed. Only obstacle scores are utilized.
This event draws a wide variety of participants from regular trail riders to those who compete in distance riding to
show horse-people looking to try something different with their horse.
The Obstacle Ride is an awesome event for individual horse and rider teams to show their confidence in one
another. It shows the dedication and loyalty of the horse and rider.
Whether you come to compete in the ride, volunteer, or just come see what we do, you will enjoy the beautiful views
of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park!
